Dr. Karen Walker Schwab is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a secondary certification as a Primary Care Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. Schwab has practiced in primary care pediatrics for nearly two decades and continues to expand her current practice to assure a medical home with comprehensive services is easily accessible to her patients’ and their families. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio and later completed her Ph.D. in Education at the University of the Incarnate Word. Schwab is also an assistant professor and teaches undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Nursing at UT Health San Antonio. Her special interests include serving patients in foster care, special needs and LGBTQ and those questioning.
