Dr. George Barajaz is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. He joined UT Health San Antonio in November of 2015 after retiring from a 20-year career in the Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington (1994), his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington (2012), and he is working on his Doctor of Nursing Practice through the University of the Incarnate Word. Dr. Barajaz is originally from Walla Walla, Washington, but after retiring from the military, he and his family have grown roots here in San Antonio, Texas. He is passionate about mentoring graduate students in his clinical setting and preparing them to be professional family nurse practitioners. Barajaz special interests include diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Dr. Barajaz is also an assistant professor and a guest lecturer in the nurse practitioner program in the School of Nursing at UT Health San Antonio.
